American Foreign Legion Chapter 384, Cathay Post. Yes, there have been many Chinese American war veterans (and Heroes), and they have war stories to tell too. The Cathay Post honors Chinese American war veterans, including a few who served on both sides of conflict during the Civil War, and many current warriors serving in the Iraq War. Go to ChineseAmericanVeterans.org and browse their website.
The Angel Island Immigration Station Foundation. From 1910-1940 immigrants arriving on the West Coast were processed through Angel Island. Unlike the more well known Ellis Island Immigration Station, many people are not as familiar with how immigrants were welcomed at Angel Island. Chinese immigrants received a lot more attention, and received a more hostile welcome from Immigration authorities. Their stories of hardship and perseverance are captured and retold for all interested parties. Visit aiisf.org to hear and see their stories, then visit Angel Island (when it is re-opened) to experience the real thing.
